My Top 5: Winter Products

 .

Eve Taylor Soothing Moisture Cream - My skin can get dry in the Winter so I always like to have a good moisturiser to keep my skin hydrated. I've been using the Eve Taylor 'Soothing Moisture Cream' which contains natural essential oils to soothe and moisturise skin. It's a thick cream but absorbs quickly and has a nice soothing effect on the skin.

LUSH Snow Fairy shower gel - A cult favourite, and for good reason! Snow Fairy has a gorgeous, sweet, bubblegum scent which lingers on the skin all day. I ask for a big 500g bottle every year for Christmas, to keep me stocked up for the year!

Soap and Glory Some Like it Hot body scrub - I've talked about my love for thermal body scrubs before, namely, The Sanctuary's 'Hot Sugar Scrub.' I've recently been using 'Some Like It Hot.' It has an intense warming effect on application to the skin and gritty sand grains which exfoliate your skin, leaving it feeling soft and smooth.

LUSH Bubblegum lip scrub - There's nothing worse than dry, chapped lips! The LUSH lip scrubs are brilliant for exfoliating your lips before lipstick application. I keep mine in my makeup bag now so I can use it throughout the day if necessary!

LUSH Lemony Flutter cuticle butter - This rich cream can be used on cuticles, elbows, knees - anywhere! I even use it as a lipbalm sometimes! It's very thick and moiturising - making it perfect for use in the Winter months. It is very rich so takes a while to sink in but it has an instant softening effect and works wonders on dry skin!

Bicester Village CCO Haul

Bicester Village is one of my favourite places to go for a day out. This is mainly because of the Cosmetic Company Outlet store which stocks all brands owned by Estee Lauder including MAC, Bobbi Brown and Clinique. It can be a bit hit-and-miss but somehow I never walk away empty handed! On my latest visit, I was very restrained and only purchased two items.

.
MAC 'Chilled on Ice' Paint Pot

'Chilled On Ice' is a pale gold shade with lots of shimmer, which came out earlier this year, with the Cham-Pale collection. It's a gorgeous shade and looks pretty on it's own or worn as a base for eyeshadow.

Estee Lauder 'Crystal Baby' lipstick

As soon as I saw 'Crystal Baby' I knew I had to have it! It's a gorgeous, natural pink lipstick, smooth and creamy in consistency and moisturising on the lips. The Pure Colour Crystal lipsticks usually cost £18, so at £12 this lipstick was quite a bargain!

December Glossybox

'The Christmas Gift-Guide: Part 2 - The 5 Products you need to Sparkle, Shimmer & Shine! Jam-packed full of fun and exciting goodies, the December BOX aims to make sure you will be the belle of the ball at any Christmas party you grace this month!'

What was in the box

Blink+Go Hi-definition mascara - I've never heard of 'Blink+go' but the mascara claims to make lashes look 'longer, thicker and sexier' and to be 'long lasting' so I'm excited to try it out! Also, I've almost finished my tube of Lancome Hypnose so it's perfect timing to receive a new mascara!

Cargo Cosmetics classic lip gloss - The Cargo lipgloss I received was in the shade 'Morocco', described as a nude plum shade with lots of shimmer. It's a really pretty, natural shade and not at all sticky.
.
Deborah Lippmann Razzle Dazzle mini nail polish - I was so excited to see the Deborah Lippmann nail polish included too, as glitter polishes are a big trend this Winter and I've never tried the brand. The shade 'Razzle Dazzle' is a stunning shade, with tonnes of purple/maroon coloured glitter. I can definitely see myself getting a low of wear out of this over the Christmas season!

Deborah Lippmann Stripped nail polish remover sachet - a nail polish remover mitt in a sachet which says it will remove polish from all ten nails. I like the concept of this and I think I'll keep the handy sachet in my bag to use for nail emergencies!

MeMeMe Seventh Heaven moisturising facebase - This facebase also sounds like an interesting product which contains 'active nutrients' to 'prime and nourish the skin.' I love primers as I feel they make a real difference to makeup application so I'll definitely use this.
.
Rituals foaming shower gel - The shower gel comes packaged and has the same consistensey as a shaving gel and foams well on application to the skin. I received 'Yogi Flow - Indian Rose & Sweet Almond Oil.' I absolutely love the scent - soft, sweet, floral and not overpowering. The scent lingers all day on the skin too, which is always a bonus!

Conclusion
.
The December Glossybox came in a red box, as opposed to the usual pink box, which I thought was a nice festive touch! In terms of the products included, this is definitely my favourite Glossybox so far! I mentioned in my previous post, that I would like to receive some more makeup items in the box, and so with a mascara, lipgloss and face primer, this month's box didn't disappoint! I can see myself using every product in the box and I'm really excited to try them all out! I've already fallen in love with the shower gel and nail polish but have yet to use the other items. My first 'Glossybox for Men' box was also delivered yesterday, which I signed my boyfriend up to as part of his Christmas present. I can't wait to see what's inside, but I won't be giving it to him until Christmas day so there's still a while to wait!

Pink Lipstick Haul

I've purchased three pink lipsticks recentley. The two NYX lipsticks are from love-makeup.co.uk and the Sally Hansen lipstick is from fragrancedirect.co.uk, both great websites for makeup. Pink lipsticks, along with nudes are my favourites for everyday use, and there's always at least one pink lippie in my handbag!

Sally Hansen 'Baby Pink' - pretty, natural pink (£1.50)
NYX 'Strawberry Milkshake' - cool-toned, milky pink (£3.50)
NYX 'Tea Rose' - warm, rosey pink (£3.50)

Christmas Shopping

Christmas is just around the corner, so of course I've been doing lots of Christmas shopping lately! I love seeing what others are buying their loved ones for Christmas, so I thought I'd share with you a few of the gifts I've bought. I'm probably going to do another post like this, showing some more of the gifts I've bought and some of the gifts I'm going to get but haven't bought yet too.

Bed Head TIGI Bed Head 'Blonde Bombshell' gift set & TIGI S Factor 'Smooth Radiance' gift set (both from Cheapsmells.com) - £17.95. The Blonde Bombshell set contains a shampoo, conditioner and leave-in conditioner and the Smooth Radiance set contains a shampoo, conditioner and lusterizer. I think hair gift sets make a nice alternative to the usual body care giftsets, and these are great value too as all the products are either 200ml or 250ml!

Men are so hard to buy for! This Ted Baker set is for my boyfriend's dad. It contains a hair/body wash and a body spray. It's not the most exciting gift set but contains two essential products so at least they'll definitely get used! There's no point buying someone a gift just 'for show' if it's not actually going to be useful to them. It cost £8 from Boots.

Crystal Clear is a salon skincare brand. I bought my mum the 'Wipe Away the Years' cleanser for her birthday in September and she absolutely loved it, so I've bought her another bottle for Christmas, along with the 'Skin Repair Serum.' The products are quite expensive but they are brilliant and feel very luxurious! They also come packaged in a lovely gift bag.

These are men's luxury slipper boots from NEXT and cost £25. The lining is so soft and they feel so comfy! I bought these for my boyfriend to go with his main present. I think slippers are always a good gift. Marks and Spencer do really nice slippers for men too.

I've already mentioned the Hotel Chocolat selectors in a previous post. Above you can see I've bought quite a few different boxes, to go with other presents. I've also bought lots of fluffy socks from Primark to go with presents too - you can't go wrong with chocolate or fluffy socks! The glittery socks come in a pack of two and cost £2 and the black and white slipper socks cost £3 for one pair.

Review: Lancome Hypnose mascara

'Turn up the volume of your lashes for hypnotising eyes! Control the look of your lashes – from subtle to sexy! With our exclusive SoftSculpt™ formula and patented Powerful brush, you can build up to 6x more volume…without caking or flaking. Result? Truly hypnotic eyes!'

I've mentioned before that Lancome Hypnose is my favourite mascara, along with L'Oreal Voluminous. I was using the Maybelline One-by-One mascara, which I recentley reviewed, and I did love it but I found, as the formula was quite dry anyway, the mascara did dry out very quickly and so I had to throw it away after just over a month of using it!

Lancome's Hypnose mascara comes in a sleek, black tube, which has a classic, chic look to it, and is also practical as it doesn't get dirty, if you carry it around in your makeup bag.

Hypnose has a typical mascara brush, which Lancome claims 'can deliver made-to-measure lash volume that you control.' Hypnose always gives my lashes incredible length and volume, and the brush, which has '1000 sensor bristles', seperates and defines my lashes wonderfully. The mascara also contains Silicone, glycerine & Vitamin B5 'to keep lashes soft and supple all day long.' I love this, as I can't stand it when mascara makes my lashes feel really dry and stiff! The one thing I dislike about the mascara is I always find the wand comes out with a lot of product, so I always wipe the brush before application, to remove the excess, as this can result in a clumping effect.

At £20.50, Hypnose doesn't come cheap, but in my opinion, it's worth every penny! Lancome always have lovely gift sets out around Christmas time too. This year they have a gift set with the Hypnose mascara, Bi-Facil (30ml) and a mini eye pencil for £20.45 (same price as the mascara on it's own!) You can also get a duo gift set with two Hypnose mascaras for just £29! I've got the duo set on my Christmas list, as it's such amazing value!

Ojon Haircare

.
The 500-year-old beauty secret was discovered by Ojon™ founder Denis Simioni in the remote regions of the tropical rainforest in Central America. The velvety-smooth, golden elixir is obtained from the nut of the native Ojon tree and is hand-extracted according to ancient, eco-friendly traditions. In one year, a single Ojon tree yields less than 8000 nuts, just enough to produce 3 cups of this recious natural ingredient. The purity of this precious oil is what creates its natural affinity for hair.

I recentley did a review on the Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment and I mentioned that I'd been using several other haircare products from Ojon, so this post is going to be on the Ojon products, which I've been using and loving.

The products I use are:

Damage Reverse Restorative Hair Treatment - an intensive hair and scalp balm to deeply treat damaged hair. I apply this onto dry hair, prior to washing and leave it on for as long as possible.

Ultra-Hydrating Shampoo - gently cleanses while replenishing the hair's moisture.

Ultra-Hydrating Conditoner - moisturises and detangles hair, leaving it feeling soft and smooth, reducing flyaway and giving a brilliant shine.

Restorative Leave-in treatment - adds shine and hydration. I dispense 2-3 pumps of this onto my palms and distribute it throughout damp, towel-dried hair before blow-drying.

Conclusion
.
I've been using these products, in conjunction with each other, for just over a month now and I can honestly say my hair has never been in better condition! My hair has looked so much healthier and shinier, it's felt smoother and softer and been a lot more manageable. I've noticed my ends are more hydrated and fly aways more tamed. I've even had compliments from my mum and friends on my hair's appearance. I'm so impressed with the results I've had from using the Ojon products, and I will definitely continue to use them.

Ojon products are at the higher end of the price range, with shampoo costing £18 for a 250ml bottle, but they do have gift sets and travel sets, which are a good way to try out products. Ojon is also available on QVC and they always do great offers on the products so I'd definitely recommend having a look!

A Yummy Stocking Filler

I bought these chocolate slabs from Hotel Chocolat to go with some Christmas pressies for my family and friends. They cost £3.50 each, but if you buy 3 or more, they cost £2.95 each. How yummy do they look?! I've tried a caramel slab and a rocky road slab from Hotel Chocolat before, and they were both amazing! I think these are perfect to give as part of a Christmas present or make great stocking fillers.

A Pink Purchase

.

Just a quick post to show you this pink blazer, which I purchased from ASOS. It was in the Sale and was reduced from £45 to £31.50, although now the pink blazer has gone back up to £45, for some reason. The blazer is also available in blue and in purple, which both cost £33.50.

Paris Sephora Haul

.
As most of you probably know, a few weeks ago I went to Paris with my boyfriend, and of course I had to make a trip to Sephora! The Sephora was huge but mostly contained brands like DIOR, Urban Decay, Chanel etc. which I wasn't really interesting in, as obviously we have the brands in the UK and they were way more expensive in Paris! They did have a Makeup Forever counter and I did contemplate purchasing the HD foundation, but I'd only recentley purchased MAC Studio Fix Fluid, which I've been loving and using almost every day, so I decided against it. I did, however, purchase quite a few products from Sephora's own line.

I've just realised that I've forgotten to include the Sephora eyeshadow which I'm wearing in my Paris FOTN! Silly me! I will do a seperate post for this with a swatch soon!

Review: Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment

'This clinically proven cult classic is fortified with nature's powerful golden elixir, a rare powerful natural ingredient that's rich in essential lipids similar to those found in healthy hair. After just one treatment, this rich, velvety balm dramatically helps restore vibrant health and high-gloss shine to even the most damaged hair. Hair is soft, silky and manageable. Formulated without Preservatives, Water, Artificial Color and Silicones.'

I've actually been using several products from Ojon and I do have a seperate post on them, which will be up soon, but this review is going to be on the Restorative Hair Treatment.
.
As I've mentioned before, I love hairmasks and use them religiously, at least once a week. Ojon is a brand, famous for their use of ojon oil - a highly moisturising and nourishing, natural plant extract found in the rainforests of Central America. The Restorative hair treatment is their 'cult product.'
.
The hair treatment comes in a 100g brown tub. In the tub, the mask has a hard, paste-like consistensey, which when warmed between your palms, transforms into an oil. I've demonstrated this in the photos below. I apply the oil to dry hair, all over but concentrate it on the ends and then comb my hair through. I then wrap my hair in a towel. I like to leave the mask on for a few hours or sleep with it on, and wash it off in the morning, to really give it a chance to work, but you can leave it on for just 20 minutes. Something to consider, is the mask doesn't have the nicest smell. I don't particularly like the smell but it doesn't bother me, although I know other people have used it and absolutely hated the smell, comparing it to the smell of cigarettes!
.
Afterwards, you simply shampoo and condition your hair to wash the mask out. As the mask is an oil, I'd advise always doing two shampoos, to really make sure you rinse the mask out. After repeatedly using this mask, along with other Ojon products, which I will do a post on soon, my hair has felt so soft and silky. It's looked shinier and healthier, and been so much easier to style. This is a new, must-have hair product for me!

November Glossybox

.
'The Christmas Gift-Guide: Part 1. The November and December Box are dedicated to helping you know exactly what to put on your wishlist / get as stockingfillers for your loved ones! This box features basic luxuries from new brands and new products from brands that you enjoyed in Glossybox before.'
.
.
What was in the box:

Arbonne Ultra Hydrating Hand Créme
Dead Sea Spa Magik Delicate Boosting Mask
Illamasque Freak Eau De Parfum
Nail Rock Designer Nail Wraps
Philip Kingsley Elasticizer

The Products

The product I'm most excited to try is the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer, which is for broken, damaged hair and promises to 'restore suppleness, elasticity, shine and bounce.' I've been really into hair products recentley, and I'm up for trying anything which will keep my hair in good condition, since I do straighten or curl it daily. I also really like the sound of the Dead Sea Spa Magik 'Delicate Boosting Mask' which is supposed to deeply nourish dry and sensitive skin because, as I've mentioned before, my skin can get quite dry in the Winter. The Arbonne Ultra Hydrating hand créme is the only product I've tried so far. It's got a lovely, silky texture, smells amazing and left my hands feeling soft and smooth.

The two products which excited me the least are the perfume sample and the nail wraps. Like many others, I am a bit tired of receiving perfume samples in the box. It is nice to try out different perfumes but it's not a very exciting product to receive, and perfume samples are so easy to get hold of! This month the sample was of Illamasqua's 'Freak.' I quite like the scent, but to me it smells more like a men's aftershave, so I don't think I'll use it. I do like the leopard print design on the nail wraps I received, but I'm not sure when I'll actually use them, as I'm not really a fan of patterned nails.

Conclusion

Although this box is probably my least favourite, out of the three Glossyboxes I've received so far, overall I am really pleased with the products. I'll probably not use the perfume sample or nail wraps but I do love the Elasticizer, face mask and hand cream, and can't wait to try them out properly! I think it would be nice to receive some more makeup though, as I love the Stila eyeliner which was in the October box! I'm keeping my fingers crossed there might be a makeup item included next month!

Glossybox for Men

Glossybox are also starting 'Glossybox for Men' - a box which will include 7 samples and will be delivered every 3 months. It will include products such as shower gel, shaving foam, deodrants, styling products, serums and fragrances. I signed up my boyfriend as part of his Christmas present! I'm sure he'll love it!

FOTN and Lashes

Here's a few FOTN photos I took when getting ready to go out to dinner with some friends. I got my eyelashes done at the salon where I work. They're the little clusters of lashes which last for about a week. I don't usually wear false lashes so it was a nice change for me to get them done! They're really easy to look after - you just need to be careful when washing your face, avoid using any oil-based products around the eye area, and you just use cotton pads soaked in baby oil to remove them. They give me an extra 5 minutes in bed in the mornings as I don't need to apply any mascara!

Smashbox Photofinish primer
Mac Select Cover-Up concealer (on imperfections and under eyes)
Mac Studio Fix Fluid
Bare minerals 'Warmth' bronzer
Rimmel 'Medium Shimmer' sunshimmer bronzer (on cheeks)
MAC Blot powder

Urban Decay eyeshadows - Creep (applied with angled eyeliner brush to top and lower lashline), Chopper (all over lid) and Half Baked (inner part of lid)
MAC Espresso eyeshadow (brows)
Lancome Hypnose mascara (on lower lashes only)
.
MAC C-Thru tinted lipglass

Storage & Organization 01

The photo above is of an area of my vanity. I store my makeup brushes in pink and blue polka-dot cups from EBAY, my Bare Minerals and shorter brushes in a plastic pot from an M&S dessert and my lipglosses are stored in a printed tub, which I got from a friend, years ago. There's also two shot glasses which contain all my hair pins and a spare brush head, a little trinket box which contains some earrings, my MAC Studio Fix Fluid box and MAC brush cleanser, which I don't really use anymore as I prefer to wash my brushes. I also have a Coastal Scents '88 Ultra Shimmer' eyeshadow palette, which is stored behind my makeup brushes.

Repurchase: The Sanctuary Hot Sugar Scrub

.
I'm a big fan of The Sanctuary's products and have yet to use a product from their line, which I don't love! I actually did a mini review of the Hot Sugar Scrub last year, when I'd just started my blog!

It's one of my favourite Winter products as it's a thermal scrub and gives a lovely, warming sensation when first applied to the skin. It is quite an intense scrub - it's not harsh on the skin, but you can definitely feel it scrubbing away all the dead skin cells, and it leaves my skin feeling incredibly soft and smooth. It's a Winter must-have product for me!

The Sanctuary Hot Sugar Scrub costs £10.20 for a 550g tub and can be bought from Boots and The Sanctuary's website

My Top 5: Lipglosses

.
L'Oreal 'Coral Strass' Glam Shine lipgloss - I've mentioned this before in my Top 5 Drugstore Favourites. This has been a favourite lipgloss of mine for years, I absolutely love it! It's a pale pinky-peach shade with lots of shimmer and it's not at all sticky.

Clinique 'Airkiss' lipgloss - This was one of the Clinique freebies that came with Glamour magazine, a while back. I tend to wear it over nude lipsticks like 'Myth' to give a bit of gloss and a hint of colour, but it also looks pretty on it's own and gives the lips a subtle, pink gloss.

Victoria Secret Beauty Rush lipgloss - My mum went to America for work, a few years ago, and she bought me a huge giftset with all the different 'Beauty Rush' lipglosses they had out at that time. I always have at least one in my bag with me for applying throughout the day. At the moment I'm using 'Bubble It Up' - a shimmery, light pink which smells like bubblegum.

MAC 'Underage' tinted lipglass - MAC's tinted lipglasses are very sticky which I don't like, but they do have good lasting power and stay on the lips for a long time. 'Underage' is a gorgeous, milky baby pink which looks pretty on it's own or over a lipstick.

Benefit California Kissin' lipgloss - This lipgloss is designed to 'instantly brighten every smile' with the idea that the blue sheen makes teeth appear whiter. I don't really wear it on it's own but I love wearing it over lipsticks. It has a nice, minty smell too.

H&M and NEXT Haul

As some of you may know, I spent last week in Paris with my boyfriend, celebrating his 21st birthday, so obviously I haven't had a chance to blog. I've got lots of posts to do though, so I'm definitely going to try and get a few more up this week, including a Sephora haul!

All the items in this haul, I actually bought just before I went away, at the beginning of November. I was celebrating the end of my October shopping ban! I needed some more jumpers and wintery clothes, as it's getting so much colder out. H&M is one of my favourite shops, as they always have lovely clothes and it's not expensive. I don't usually shop in NEXT as I generally find the clothes to be overpriced, but I've been wanting a leopard print cardi for ages, and I love this one! I really liked the jumper too. I also treated myself to a new bottle of MAC's Studio Fix Fluid. I'd forgotten how much I like it and I much prefer it to MAC's Studio Sculpt foundation, which I loved at first, but I find it wears off during the day, leaving my makeup looking patchy. I will do a review soon!

Also, as I bought all these clothes a while ago, and I've since worn them all, I can't remember the exact prices! I think the H&M jumper was around £14.99, the H&M top was £12.99, the NEXT cardigan was around £25 and I can't remember the price of the NEXT jumper, maybe £18? MAC Studio Fix Fluid is £19.50.

Cheapsmells TIGI Giftset sale

I've mentioned the website Cheapsmells.com before, when they were having a sale on all their YSL products, including rouge volupte lipsticks. They are currently having another brilliant 7-day sale on TIGI hair giftsets.
.
I ordered one of the giftsets, earlier this week, to give to my boyfriend's sister for Christmas. I chose the 'Smooth Radiance' giftset from the S-Factor line, which includes the Smoothing Shampoo, Smoothing Conditioner and Smoothing Lusterizer. The RRP price for this set is £30.95, but it cost me just £17.95 (including postage!)

It's such a lovely giftset, packaged nicely in a silver and white box, and all the products contained are full size (200ml) products, so it really is great value! The products all have a gorgeous, fruity scent too! I think this makes such a lovely Christmas gift (I know I'd be happy if I received one for Christmas!) and makes a nice alternative to toiletry gift sets.

Cheapsmells.com have lots of different giftsets available in the sale, with prices ranging from £11.95 to £17.95, but the sale ends tomorrow, so if you're going to order one, be quick! Link here.

Spending my Boots points

This morning I popped to Boots with my mum, just to stock up on some of the essentials. I've been saving my Boots points for a while now, and since I'm still on my spending ban and trying to save money for when I go away in two weeks, I thought I'd treat myself to a little something. I had about £11 worth of points and I was actually going to finally buy the 17 'Beehive' lipstick, but there weren't any left!

But I did buy the Rimmel Sun Shimmer bronzer in 'Medium Shimmer.' I used the Sun Shimmer bronzer all the way throughout secondary school, for years. It was one of those makeup products which everyone seemed to have! I used to love it, but haven't had it in my collection for a few years now, so I'm looking forward to seeing what I think of it now.

(Left to Right: Rimmel 'Medium Shimmer' Sun Shimmer bronzer, Bourjois '52' Delice de Poudre bronzer, Benefit 'Hoola' bronzer)

From initial swatching, the Rimmel bronzer seems to be more orange-toned than most of my bronzers and has a fair ammount of shimmer, although I'm not sure how much of the shimmer will translate onto the skin. I'm looking forward to trying it out, and if it's too shimmery to use all over my face, I think it will look pretty dusted on my cheeks.

My Collection: Highlighters

Here's the second part of the 'My Collection' series. I don't use a highlighter every single day, but I've found myself reaching for them more and more recentley, as I love the pretty glow they give my skin. I always seem to get more compliments on my makeup too when I use a highlighter! My favourite and most-used ones are NARS 'Albatross' and MAC's 'Soft and Gentle' mineralize skinfinish. I've got Dior's 'Amber Diamond' on my Christmas list aswell though, because it looks so gorgeous!

Bare Minerals 'Pure Radiance', NARS 'Albatross', MAC 'Shell Pearl' (L/E), MAC 'Belightful' (L/E), MAC 'Soft and Gentle' msf, Pupa 'Golden Touch', Luna Twilight 'Mortal Glow', Benefit 'Moon Beam', Benefit 'High Beam'

The best kind of shopping

Shopping without spending!
.
At the weekend, my mum and I had a big sort out, clearing a lot of stuff from the spare room. As a lot of you know, this month I've been on a spending ban and, apart from a pair of Mango wedges, I've not bought any clothes or makeup yet. So I was really pleased to find a few bits I liked / had forgotten about, amongst the piles of stuff. It's like shopping, without spending any money - LOVE it!
..

1. Girls Aloud lashes - 'Nicola', 'Nadine' & 'Kimberley'

2. The Body Shop Ginger bath cream & L'Occitane exfoliating face mask

3. Quilted leather bag (this was my mum's)

4. Frankincense & myrrh glitter tealights
