Review: MAC Zoom Lash mascara

I didn't actually purchase this mascara on it's own, I got it in the 'Girl Next Door' Packed to Go kit (only available at airports/duty free stores) which you can see here. I don't really buy high end mascaras, the only ones I've ever tried are Benefit Bad Gal and Lancome Hypnose, which I got given in a gift set for Christmas (it's amazing!) I usually stick to drugstore mascaras, my favourite being L'Oreal Voluminous.

All I can say about this mascara is that it really isn't worth the £13.50 that it costs, and I'm so glad that I didn't spend my money on it. The formula is extremely wet, I usually prefer my mascara's once they've dried out a bit anyway, but the formula of this is ridiculous and when applied, it just clumps the lashes together. I've tried wiping the wand before application to remove excess product and combed my lashes through with a clean mascara wand once it's been applied, but nothing makes a difference. The formula is horrible, and very hard to work with.

The only way I can use this mascara is to layer it over another mascara for a bit more volume, but even then care needs to be taken so that my lashes don't end up in a big clumpy mess. The only positive thing I can say about the mascara is it's a dark, true black. That being said, I think it's by far one of the worst mascaras I've tried and once I've used up it up I will definitley not be repurchasing it.

NOTD: Barry M Blueberry

I'd seen Barry M's Blue Moon on lots of blogs recentley and loved the look of it, but when I went in search of it a few weeks ago I couldn't find it anywhere, so I settled for Blueberry instead, which looks a bit brighter but is still a pretty colour :)

Bicester CCO Haul

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was going to Bicester Outlet Village, and I was so excited because they have a Cosmetic Outlet Store. They didn't have loads there in the CCO but I still managed to pick up a few bits! So here's my long overdue haul :)

MAC Violet pigment

MAC Viva Glam V lipstick
MAC Boybait Cremesheen Glass
Estee Lauder Doublewear foundation

The Swatches

I'm so happy with my purchases! I can't remember the exact prices but I think the lipstick was around £7, the lipgloss around £8 and the pigment around £10, but that's just a rough idea! I can't remember how much the foundation was!

I wore the foundation for the first time yesterday and I loved it! Usually by the end of work I have some patches where my makeup's worn off a bit in the day, but I was happy to find with 'Doublewear' my makeup was still in place. I know the foundation's well known for being extremely long lasting and that people have even slept in with it still on after a night out and woken up in the morning to find it still intact, so I'm really looking forward to trying this out more! (Review to come!)

Review: LUSH Oatifix Fresh Face Mask

'Use Oatifix to clean and soften dry and sensitive skin. You will be delighted to hear that Oatifix smells as tempting as a very posh breakfast. Oats are calming, ground almonds give you an exfoliating scrub, bananas are softning and illipe butter reduces redness. Get the Oatifix you need. Keep chilled. If you live outside of the UK, you might prefer to pop to your local Lush shop to pick up your fresh mask to make sure it lasts as long as possible.'

A few weeks ago, just before Easter, my Mum and I treated ourselves to some bits from LUSH. One of the things we decided to order was the Oatifix fresh face mask. I'd never tried any of the fresh face masks from LUSH before, but had heard a lot of positive things about them so was excited to try it! One of the negatives I'd heard was that, as they are fresh, they have a short shelf life. That's why my mum and I shared the mask, because you do get a lot (the 75g tub was full to the top!)

Firstly the smell, Oatifix has the most amazing smell ever! It's main ingredients are oatmeal and bananas, and that's exactly what it smells like. Literally good enough to eat! The mask also contains ground almonds which gently exfoliate your skin when you apply the mask. I applied a thick layer and left it on for 10 minutes. The oats and almonds make the mask very thick and it's quite sticky, so it can be a bit tricky applying it to your skin, as bits of it seem to fall everywhere and it doesn't spread too easily. Once I washed it off though, my skin felt so soft and smooth! It was really soothing and helped to moisturise my skin. My mum loved the mask too, and said her skin felt so much softer.
I'm really impressed with this face mask and it's definitley good value for money as you get loads in a tub! I'd recommend getting it to share with someone if you can though as you do have to use it in 3 weeks, which I think could be hard to do on your own. I really liked the face mask and I'd definitley buy it again!
