We learn from our mistakes

When I buy a makeup item, I usually research the product first - looking at swatches, reviews, FOTDs to make sure my money is well spent. However when I first started getting into makeup, I didn't know about these resources, and I ended up with three lipsticks from MAC, which I definitely regret buying.

(Left to Right: Tanarama. Pet Me Please. Quiet Please)

I bought each of these lipsticks at the start of my makeup obsession. In the shop, I thought the lipsticks looked pretty when swatched on the back of my hand, so I bought each one, only to be extremely disappointed when getting home and actually applying them to my lips.

It was really hard to catch the 'frostiness' of Tanarama and Pet Me Please on camera, but in real life they look a lot more frosty than above, almost metallic. And Quiet Please just adds a sheer sparkle to my lips. I think they could maybe they could be used for layering or something, but I'd reach for Hue or Cremecup over these, any day.

  6. I agree! I asked for some MAC lippys for XMAS just because they were HG for a lot of people but some of them just don't suit me. Now I think I'm more aware of what suits me.

  8. This is such a shame because they look so lovely on your hand but totally different on your lips! We've all been there.

  10. tbh I still buy too many mistakes! Frosty lips don't really suit anyone and frostyness never really translates in beauty blog swatches, no? Can you back 2 mac these and get something better?

  12. Lol I agree, Frost lipsticks aren't very flattering in general. I tend to avoid frost lipsticks now, apart from Angel which I love!

Sarah: I think I might just depot what's left of them into little pots and try to find a use for them! And take the lipstick tubes Back to MAC - good idea! xxx

  13. I bought so many lame lipsticks while searching for my perfect nude i.e freckletone by MAC. Most of them look like concealer on my lips. I actually like Quiet please on you :)

  14. LOL, I used to buy a ton of makeup that didn't end up working for me. I would just give it away to a friend that would look better with it. <3

  15. I've bought a few items in the past and thought "why?" lol. You could try using one as a base to a light eyeshadow, maybe something like Naked Lunch, I have no idea if it would crease but it's worth a go and defo back-to-MAC the container things x x
